Description
A refreshing layered drink made with sweet strawberry purée, creamy milk, and earthy matcha green tea. This café-style beverage is visually stunning and delicious, offering fruity sweetness balanced with the smooth, slightly bitter taste of matcha.
Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
- 2–3 tablespoons sugar or honey (to taste)
- 2 cups milk of choice (dairy or plant-based)
- 2 teaspoons matcha powder
- 1/4 cup hot water
- 1 cup ice cubes
Instructions
- Blend strawberries with sugar or honey until smooth. Optionally, simmer for 5–7 minutes in a small saucepan to thicken slightly, then let cool.
- Whisk matcha powder with hot water until smooth and frothy.
- Spoon strawberry purée into the bottom of a glass.
- Add ice cubes on top of the strawberry layer.
- Slowly pour in milk over the ice to create the second layer.
- Gently pour the prepared matcha over the milk for the top layer.
- Stir before drinking and enjoy.
Notes
For a vegan option, use almond, oat, or coconut milk.To keep layers distinct, pour slowly over the back of a spoon.Strain strawberry purée for a smoother texture.Strawberry purée can be stored for up to 3 days in the fridge. Matcha is best prepared fresh for optimal flavor and color.
