Description

Strawberry Pretzel Salad is the perfect balance of sweet and salty, with layers of creamy filling, tart strawberries, and a crunchy, buttery pretzel crust. It’s a delightful dessert that’s always a crowd-pleaser, easy to make ahead, and perfect for gatherings or any special occasion.

Ingredients

  • For the crust:
  • 2 cups pretzels (crushed)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • For the filling:
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the topping:
  • 1 package (6 oz) strawberry gelatin (Jell-O)
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/2 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. For the crust: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Crush the pretzels into small pieces. In a medium bowl, combine crushed pretzels, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Stir to combine. Press mixture into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Bake for 8-10 minutes until golden. Remove from oven and cool completely.
  2. For the filling: In a large bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Gently fold in the whipped topping and vanilla extract. Once the pretzel crust is cool, spread the cream cheese mixture over it.
  3. For the topping: In a medium bowl, dissolve the strawberry gelatin in boiling water. Stir for 2 minutes or until fully dissolved. Allow it to cool for 10-15 minutes, then stir in the sliced strawberries. Pour the gelatin mixture over the cream cheese layer and spread evenly.
  4. Chill: Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for the best flavor and texture.
  5. Serve: Once set, slice and serve! Enjoy the layers of creamy, crunchy, and fruity goodness.

Notes

For a different fruit topping, try using raspberries, blueberries, or a mixture of berries. If you prefer a sweeter crust, add a bit more sugar to the pretzel mixture. This dessert can also be made with graham cracker or shortbread crst instead of pretzels for a different texture.
