Tuna Noodle Casserole is a comforting dish that combines creamy sauce, tender pasta, and savory tuna, topped with a crispy breadcrumb layer.
Ingredients
- 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna in oil or water, drained and flaked
- 8 oz egg noodles (or any pasta you prefer)
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken soup)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 cup frozen peas (optional, for added veggies)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a cheese blend)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (Panko works best for crunch)
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish or spray it with cooking spray.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions (usually 8-10 minutes). Drain and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, cream of mushroom soup, mayonnaise, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir until well combined. Add the cooked pasta and frozen peas, then fold in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
- Transfer the tuna and pasta mixture to the prepared casserole dish, spreading it out evenly.
- In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs with melted butter. Stir until evenly coated. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture over the casserole, then top with the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly around the edges.
- Remove from the oven and let sit for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
