Description

Vietnamese peanut sauce is a creamy, savory-sweet condiment made with peanut butter, hoisin, and garlic. It’s smooth, flavorful, and perfect for dipping fresh spring rolls or drizzling over noodles and grilled dishes.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or lime juice
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup water or coconut milk
  • 12 tsp chili garlic sauce or red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine peanut butter, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, minced garlic, and brown sugar.
  2. Place over medium-low heat and stir constantly until the mixture is smooth and warmed through.
  3. Add the rice vinegar or lime juice and stir to combine.
  4. Gradually whisk in water or coconut milk until the sauce reaches your desired consistency.
  5. Stir in chili garlic sauce or red pepper flakes if using.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more sweetness, saltiness, or acidity as needed.
  7. Remove from heat and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Coconut milk makes the sauce richer and creamier.The sauce thickens as it cools; add liquid to thin if needed.Adjust sweetness or spice to taste.Great for dipping spring rolls or drizzling over noodles.Crunchy peanut butter can be used for added texture.
