Waldorf Salad is a classic, refreshing dish made with crisp apples, celery, grapes, and walnuts tossed in a creamy dressing. It’s light, crunchy, and perfect as a side dish, appetizer, or light lunch.
Ingredients
- 2 crisp apples (such as Granny Smith or Gala), chopped
- 2 celery stalks, thinly sliced
- 1 cup red or green grapes, halved
- 1/2 cup walnuts (toasted or raw), chopped
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise or Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Lettuce leaves (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Wash and chop the apples into bite-sized pieces. Toss with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- Thinly slice the celery and halve the grapes.
- In a large bowl, combine the apples, celery, grapes, and walnuts.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise or Greek yogurt, salt, pepper, and a bit more lemon juice if desired.
- Pour the dressing over the salad and toss gently to coat.
- Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving. Serve on a bed of lettuce if desired.
Notes
Use Greek yogurt for a lighter version with a tangy flavor.Toss apples with lemon juice immediately after cutting to reduce browning.Toasted walnuts add more flavor but raw works fine too.Add cooked chicken to make it a complete meal.Best served chilled and within 1–2 days of making.
