Description

Warm Spiced Peach Loaf with Cinnamon and Nutmeg is a comforting, aromatic treat combining the sweetness of peaches with warming spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. This moist, flavorful loaf is perfect for cozy mornings, afternoon snacks, or as a dessert to share with family and friends.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or plain yogurt
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen peaches, diced
  • 1 tablespoon flour (for coating peaches)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional, for crunch)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (for topping, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. Prepare the peaches: If using fresh peaches, peel, pit, and dice them. Toss diced peaches in a tablespoon of flour to prevent them from sinking. Set aside.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Set aside.
  4. Cream the butter and sugar: In a large bowl, beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy (3-4 minutes). You can use a hand mixer or stand mixer.
  5. Add the eggs and vanilla: Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Add the dry ingredients: Gradually add dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with sour cream/yogurt. Begin and end with dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  7. Fold in the peaches and nuts: Gently fold in the floured peaches and nuts (if using) into the batter.
  8. Transfer to the pan: Pour batter into prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top. Sprinkle with brown sugar for a caramelized finish (optional).
  9. Bake: Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. If top is browning too quickly, tent with foil.
  10. Cool: Remove loaf from oven, cool for 10 minutes in pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. Serve: Slice and enjoy with a hot beverage or as a delicious treat on its own!

Notes

Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days. Refrigerate for longer shelf life.Freezing: Freeze tightly wrapped loaf for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving.Variations: Substitute peaches for pears, apples, or mixed berries. For a vegan version, use flax eggs and coconut or almond yogurt.
