Description

Miso Salmon is a savory and flavorful seafood dish made with tender salmon fillets marinated in a rich miso glaze with soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil. This easy Japanese-inspired recipe delivers restaurant-quality flavor with minimal effort, making it perfect for healthy weeknight dinners or elegant meals at home.

Ingredients

salmon fillets
white miso paste
soy sauce
mirin
rice vinegar
sesame oil
brown sugar
garlic
fresh ginger
green onions
sesame seeds
cooked rice
steamed vegetables

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, whisk together miso paste, soy sauce, mirin, rice vinegar, sesame oil, brown sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger until smooth.
  • Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish or resealable bag.
  • Pour the marinade over the salmon and coat evenly. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 8 hours.
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Line a baking sheet or baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • Remove the salmon from the marinade and place it skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on thickness, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  • For a caramelized top, broil the salmon for 1 to 2 minutes at the end of cooking.
  • Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
  • Serve with rice and steamed vegetables if desired.

Notes

White miso provides a mild and slightly sweet flavor, while red miso creates a richer taste. For extra heat, add chili flakes or sriracha to the marinade. This recipe also works well grilled or air-fried for added texture and flavor.
