Ingredients
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup long-grain rice
- 1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
- 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 1–2 teaspoons soy sauce or salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- ½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add rice and stir to coat in oil, toasting for 1–2 minutes.
- Pour in broth and season with soy sauce (or salt), black pepper, and paprika if using. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- Cover and cook for about 10 minutes.
- Add peas and stir lightly.
- Place shrimp on top of the rice, cover, and cook for another 5–7 minutes until shrimp are pink and rice is tender.
