Description

Velveeta Queso Dip is a rich, creamy cheese dip made with Velveeta, diced tomatoes with green chilies, and savory seasonings. This easy queso recipe is perfect for game days, parties, nachos, and crowd-pleasing appetizers.

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces Velveeta cheese, cubed
  • 1 can (10 ounces) diced tomatoes with green chilies
  • ½ pound ground beef or sausage
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • 12 jalapeños, chopped (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped

Instructions

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef or sausage until browned. Drain excess grease if needed.
  • Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
  • Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Place cubed Velveeta cheese into a saucepan or slow cooker.
  • Add diced tomatoes with green chilies, cooked meat mixture, milk, chili powder, and cumin.
  • Heat over low heat, stirring frequently, until the cheese is melted and smooth.
  • Stir in jalapeños if using for added heat.
  • Transfer the queso dip to a serving bowl or keep warm in a slow cooker.
  • Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve warm with tortilla chips, vegetables, pretzels, or fries.

Notes

For a thinner consistency, stir in extra milk a little at a time. To keep the dip creamy during parties, use a slow cooker on the warm setting. You can easily make this recipe vegetarian by omitting the meat.
