Ingredients
- 2–3 apples (peeled, cored, thinly sliced)
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease or line a rectangular baking tin.
- Prepare the apples by peeling, coring, and slicing them thinly. Set aside.
- In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, until smooth.
- Spread half of the batter into the prepared tin.
- Layer sliced apples evenly over the batter.
- Spread remaining batter on top, smoothing gently.
- Bake for 30–40 minutes, until golden and a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before slicing into squares.
