Description

Easy Apple Slice is a soft, buttery dessert made with tender baked apples and a lightly spiced, cake-like crumb. This simple apple slice recipe is perfect for quick baking, using everyday ingredients to create a comforting treat ideal for snacks, dessert, or afternoon tea.

Ingredients

  • 23 apples (peeled, cored, thinly sliced)
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease or line a rectangular baking tin.
  • Prepare the apples by peeling, coring, and slicing them thinly. Set aside.
  • In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, until smooth.
  • Spread half of the batter into the prepared tin.
  • Layer sliced apples evenly over the batter.
  • Spread remaining batter on top, smoothing gently.
  • Bake for 30–40 minutes, until golden and a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool before slicing into squares.

Notes

Use firm apples like Granny Smith for best texture.Avoid overly thick apple slices to prevent excess moisture.Optional: sprinkle brown sugar or add crumble topping for extra sweetness.
